Since the channel went online in March 2012, around 11 million users have watched the technical content available there. Last December alone, the videos were viewed around 290,000 times, adding up to a total playback time of over 560,000 minutes. And in the last couple of years, the channel’s development has really gathered steam. In 2019, it gained around 13,000 new subscribers, and in 2020, that number was 18,000 individuals who thus always stay up to date with MS Motorservice International GmbH’s latest videos. Thanks to exponential growth, this trend should keep increasing still: we expect to reach the 60,000 subscriber mark in the first quarter of 2021. 75,000 subscribers are anticipated by the end of the year 2021.
Content with a purpose
The reasons for the users’ strong interest are both the content and the length and format of the various videos. They seem to have the right thing for everyone. Users can thereby learn how pistons, fuel delivery modules, crankshafts and other components are assembled, and how they work in detail by watching the elaborately produced 3D-animations. By contrast, the many technical educational videos enable a more comprehensive insight into entire systems, such as exhaust gas recirculation, provide tips on how to work with special tools, or show how to overcome concrete problems with engine components. Meanwhile, the newly introduced series of short videos concentrates on possible specific problems with a component that one could encounter. The scope of these is much reduced and they lead the viewer quickly to the desired solution to their specific problem.
Available in many languages
Alongside the high level of technical expertise that Motorservice’s YouTube channel makes available to the industry, the fact that the content is available in a large number of languages plays an important role in the high click rate. The videos are mostly available in English, German, French, Russian, Polish, Spanish and Chinese, and sometimes also in Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Hungarian or Romanian. This means that people can find the information they are looking for in their own language – without any linguistic barriers.
